BitLocker
Drive Encryption, or simply BitLocker, is a Microsoft Windows security and
encryption feature that is included with certain newer versions of Windows.
BitLocker enables users to encrypt (encryption is the method by which
information is converted into secret code that hides the information's true
meaning) everything on the drive Windows is installed on, protecting that data
from theft or unauthorized access.
PTS IT has
elected to enable this feature on all Windows computers that are assigned to
faculty, staff, or administration. This decision was made in order to better
protect our community members as well as the institutional knowledge contained
within our work computers.
