Downloading files from a network drive (H:\)

When working with network drives, the user's computer needs to be connected to the PTSecured network (on-campus) or connected to Cisco Anyconnect VPN when working remotely.

Windows 10 (File Explorer)

Under My PC you can see the drives connected to your computer, the network drives have a green connector attached to the drive and double backslash in the description (\\). When the connector is red and you see a red X, the network drive is disconnected, make sure your device is connected to the network( PTSecured or Cisco when working remotely), then double-click on the network drive to re-connect.

To access the documents stored in the network drive, just double-click in the icon, this will open the drive showing the content. To copy the file(s) follow the steps below

1- Navigate until finding the document(s) you wish to download **

2- Right-click on the selected document(s) and from the menu select Copy or  after selecting the file you can use the shortcut keys Control + C

3- Navigate to the destination, then right-click and from the menu this time, select paste or use the shortcut  keys Control + V

** To select several adjacent documents you can use the keys Shift + Arrows then follow steps 2 and 3. When the files are not adjacent, press the Control key and click on the files you are planning to download, then follow steps 2 and 3
